Over the past five years, 1,200 child pedestrians have been hurt of killed in New Zealand. In an attempt to reduce this statistic, family business Geared New Zealand has created high-visibility waterproof jackets for three to 13 year olds. The main safety feature of the jacket is the reflective fluoro panels, much like those worn by road workers and emergency crews. The lightweight material makes them easy to carry and they look good, so kids are happy to wear them.

Geared NZ is involved in a fund-raising imitative with primary and intermediate schools, giving $5 back to the school for each Roadworks jacket sold to its pupils.
